Public Governor (Manchester)
Public Governor for Manchester Constituency
Term of Office: 3 Years – Ending at 2022 Annual/Special Members’ Meeting
Having retired from work, and living in Manchester, I want to give something back to my community. Like most people I have used the NHS throughout my life – from childhood illnesses to child birth. I feel that we can take the NHS for granted, and I want to ensure that in Manchester it will always be here for us, our children and our grandchildren.
I have previously worked in the NHS, for a short period at Wythenshawe Hospital as a health care assistant and then for the public service trade union and I believe the highest quality staff lead to the highest quality care.
I am passionately against outsourcing NHS services to the private sector, and before moving to Manchester, I lived in East Lancashire where I was an elected Councillor for 13 years. During this time I chaired a Health and Social Care Scrutiny Committee, experience that I feel will help me in my role as a Governor.
