Lois Dobson
Nominated Governor - Youth Forum
Nominated Governor for Voluntary Sector
My experience, as a patient of the Trust, generated my interest in healthcare and inspired me to become a member of the Youth Forum at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. Over the past few years, I have worked collaboratively with other young people and health professionals, to help make a positive impact on the experience of young people.
Becoming a doctor is a future career aspiration of mine, with the key motivating factor being the provision of good quality, person-centred care. As a volunteer for Manchester’s local COVID vaccination programme, I enjoyed communicating and connecting with people of all ages, alongside supporting patients to have the best possible experience.
As Youth Governor, I am looking to support the Trust to enhance the patient experience/transition between paediatric and adult services and, by ensuring that there is a strong youth perspective provided when plans and policies are being developed, will make sure that the best interests of young people are represented.
Elected September 2021 (1st Term)
