Public Governor (Manchester)

Public Governor for Manchester Constituency

I am interested in becoming a public governor for multiple reasons. I have been a patient, carer, staff member and volunteer at MFT and therefore have a passion and interest for using my experience to support the services provided for all its users.

I have lived in Wythenshawe all my life, as has my husband and we have brought up three sons here. I have seen firsthand, (through my range of volunteering roles) the importance our health service and MFT is to our lives.

I have built up a range of skills, through my life, as a mother, clerical worker in the NHS and in various volunteering roles in the community, gaining compassion, active listening skills and problem solving.

The volunteer roles included classroom support for children, befriending vulnerable people at home, hospice experience in day care, bereavement support and dementia care.  I was a parent governor when my children were at primary school, providing me with good experience of the inner workings of public service in education.

I enjoy walking, reading, music and dancing and supporting Manchester City, along with my husband, sons and grandsons.

As a governor, I can offer those I act on behalf of, a friendly face and a commitment to championing activities and schemes to ensure everyone is cared for in the best possible way. In addition, I will work to ensure all staff are treated well and looked after to achieve this outcome.
