Dr Syed Ali

Public Governor (Manchester)

Public Governor for Manchester Constituency

Term of Office: 3 Years – Ending at 2023 Annual/Special Members’ Meeting

Syed is a retired scientist who has worked in a UK based high-tech power reactor design and construction company for over 30 years. He’s also a long-standing resident of south Manchester (over 30 years in West Didsbury).

After serving as a Public Governor at UHSM for eight years, Syed was re-elected as a Public Governor at the newly formed MFT, serving until 2019. During his years of involvement, he has represented patients’ and members’ interests, including during inspections of hospital hygiene, cleanliness and food standards.  As a member of the UHSM’s Annual Plan Advisory Committee, he participated in conducting critical reviews of future plans.

Syed was delighted to be elected again as a Governor in 2020 as he appreciates the importance of hospitals to local people and the need to aspire to reach new goals in enhancing the quality and reputation of patient care.  Syed also appreciates the challenges faced by healthcare organisations when the NHS goes through changes in governance and funding.
