Hospital requests
Results will be reported to the patient chart in the Epic HIVE system. Some results may be preliminary verified to ensure they are available in a timely manner. They will then be clinically reviewed, and any relevant comments added before being final verified. The verification status of each result will be highlighted in the patient chart.
GP requests
Results will be reported onto the EMIS system and to the Greater Manchester Care record. There is no preliminary validation for GP results, all results on the EMIS system will be in their final form.
External trusts
NPEX is available for electronic requesting and reporting of results. Please contact adam.tonge@mft.nhs.uk or nick.rolls@mft.nhs.uk if you wish to enquire about this system. All other results will be printed and posted to the requesting laboratory.
Telephone action limits
Abnormal results for key tests will be telephoned to users, the full list of these tests and ranges is available from the department.
Time limits for requesting additional tests
Add on requests should be made within 48 hours of the original request. For hospital samples, the add on request should be made via the HIVE requesting system. For GP/external samples, the lab should be contacted to add on the extra tests:
