Nominated Governor (Volunteer Services)

Nominated Governor for Voluntary Sector

My father was a GP in Trafford which connected me the NHS from a very young age. That connection became a passion when I had to have lifesaving heart surgery at Wythenshawe Hospital over nine years ago. The gratitude I felt for the work of staff at the hospital led me to train and continue to serve as a cardiac patient support volunteer for now over seven years.

The skills I have acquired from my past experiences of over 30 years working in specialised technical and managerial IT roles in the financial sector, followed by over 10 years working in Mental Health Support in Trafford will, I hope, be beneficial to my role as Trust Governor.

I am committed to promoting and supporting diversity and equality in the workplace in a positive and constructive manner wherever possible in MFT. The relationships that I have developed with patients and staff throughout the Trust in my role as a volunteer will help me in accurately and positively representing the views of volunteers and members.

As the Volunteer Governor my key focus is to support the Trust in providing a practical and effective volunteer training programme and promoting the key role of hospital volunteers in supporting patients and MFT staff.

Nominated: September 2023 (1st term)

Term of Office: 3 Years – Ending at 2026 Annual Members’ Meeting.
