Professor Luke Georghiou

Luke is Deputy President and Deputy Vice-Chancellor at The University of Manchester. Luke joined MFT on 1st June 2018 and is an influential leader both with the University and our wider stakeholders and partners across Greater Manchester. Graduating from The University of Manchester, Luke pursued a research career in policy and management of science and technology and has held a number of advisory roles with the UK and foreign Governments. In 2004 when the two Manchester Universities announced a merger, Luke was encouraged to take his first management leadership role as Associate Dean for Research and was elected to the Board of Governors as a staff representative.
In 2010, Luke became Vice-President for Research and Innovation, a key role helping the University to drive forward its research agenda, business engagement and commercialisation agendas prior to his current role.
